the Answers You Need About CubiTan

CubiTan® is a next-generation high-pressure gas container utilizing PCPs (Porous Coordination Polymers) / MOFs (Metal-Organic Frameworks) technology for safe and efficient storage and transportation of methane gas.

Methane is a primary component of natural gas and a crucial energy source. Using methane as a fuel can generate energy with lower carbon emissions compared to coal or oil.

CubiTan® uses PCPs/MOFs technology to efficiently absorb and store methane gas. This container can be refilled, transported, and utilized easily with the IoT (Internet of things) sensor module and integrated web-based data management system called CubiLoop™.

Here’s a simple explanation of MOF. Metal-Organic Framework or MOF is a porous material created by combining metal ions with organic ligands. When these two components are combined, a unique three-dimensional porous structure is formed, similar to a honeycomb but on a nano scale.

1 gram of MOF = equivalent to the surface area of one soccer field (7,000 m²).

This means that even though the material only weighs 1 gram, all of its pores spread out would provide a surface area of 7,000 square meters. This extremely large surface area makes MOF very effective for gas storage applications like methane and hydrogen.

CubiTan® provides highly efficient storage in lightweight and compact containers, weighing only 12 kg, which represents a 90% reduction in size and a 75% reduction in weight compared to traditional alternatives. CubiTan® also features enhanced safety measures, reduced leakage risks, and the ability to transport gas without requiring pipeline infrastructure.
CubiTan® makes it easy to monitor remaining gas amount since its sensor information is connected via the Internet. This makes it possible for existing gas suppliers or distributors to deliver newly filled gas containers before the gas completely runs out.
CubiTan® is equipped with the CubiLink™ data management system that monitors container conditions during vehicle transportation and CubiApp™ during hand-carry. These features serve as communication systems that remotely monitor remaining amounts and leaks, ensuring the safety and integrity of stored gas.
We have just started the PoC (Proof of Concept) demonstration testing in Indonesia to develop the CubiTan® smart gas network in the Indonesia market. Based on the results of the PoC, we will obtain the necessary permits and approvals from the Indonesian authorities. Our target of commercialization in Indonesia is 2027. You can look forward to CubiTan® being delivered in your location in the near future!
Yes, CubiTan® is designed for flexibility and can be used in various industrial applications, including fuel transportation, gas processing, and more.
Yes, we aim to reach 60 million households in Indonesia. With CubiTan®, methane can be distributed to households similar to LPG without using pipelines. Methane itself is a primary component of city gas used as a fuel for gas stoves, home heating systems, and various other household needs.
