CubiTan® Undergoes POC Trials in Indonesia

Atomis and Yachiyo Engineering (YEC) have commenced groundbreaking proof-of-concept (POC) trials of their innovative gas container “CubiTan® ” at BRIN’s (Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional/ The National Research and Innovation Agency) laboratory in Indonesia. The trials represent a critical step in the development of the “Smart Gas Network” which centers this next-generation technology. Through this initiative, we aim to evaluate the efficiency and reliability of CubiTan® as well as its key technology, PCPs / MOFs.

Methane Injection Trials into CubiTan®

This trial marks a significant milestone, as for the first time, methane-based natural gas has been successfully injected into CubiTan®. This technology allows gas to be stored in a next-generation high-pressure container, enhancing the flexibility of gas distribution, particularly in areas that lack an established pipeline network.

Data Analysis and Technology Refinement

As the developers of CubiTan®, Atomis and YEC will conduct a thorough analysis of the trial results. The results of this trial will then serve as the foundation for further refinement and improvement of CubiTan® technology and enhance its practicality for real-world applications.

This experiment is scheduled to continue until the spring of 2025. It is also important to note that throughout this process, BRIN will play a key role as our primary research partner in Indonesia.
